#2
Pack the suitcase on the stairs
Make a run for what's not theirs
Take the train to find a bed
Where empty cases lie instead
And circus peanuts line the walls
And of course no one ever calls
So this is it then
There's the door
But now in place I find the floor
Clench the rug and shed a tear
How the hell did I get here?
Walk the tracks until it's dark
Drift along past Rose's park
Kiss the sky til it goes black
Linger longer, no coming back
To where the skyline always swells
And stealing gypsies cast their spells
So this is it then
There's the light
But now in place I find my might
Clench the dew and scream aloud
How am I so quickly plowed?
Hint the outline of his face
Feel the sheet where there's no trace
Drench the memories in the wash
Sink the boat of what's been lost
And what was never meant to be
And how the earth is just debris
And how we're it then
There's the cage
But now in place I find the stage
Clench my fists and take it all
There's no better way to fall.
